Kerrang Double Page Analysis

The colours used are black, white and gold which stands out and attracts the reader to the magazine. The white on black background is contrasting and makes the magazine seem very dark and dreary, which shows that the magazines audience is into rock and metal music. Also they are the same as the front cover and the contents page; this creates good ‘house style’. The layout of the double page spread is set out in columns. This makes it easier for the audience to read the article. The pull quote “I DON’T CARE WHAT ANYONE THINKS ABOUT ME…” from the interview is highlighted in bold, because it links to the main image and draws the audience into the article and into buying the magazine. Also it allows the audience to know at little about what is going to be said in the article. The main image links to the front cover, because it is of Ian Watkins, who is on the cover. Also it is the type of music that the audience would be likely to listen to, which is why he is the central image. Also there is a circle called In A Nutshell, this is filled with information relating to the band or singer in the article and it lets the audience connect to them more. The language used by the writer, fits in with the audience the magazine is appealing to. They are appealing to teenagers to people in their early twenties.
