Mojo Front Cover Analysis

The masthead is in a big and bold font. It is a simple font and they use the white on black, to show contrast, and to draw the target audiences attention to the magazine. Also they use the red on white to make it stand out. This magazine appeals to people who listen to most types of music, and the age range is from early twenties to adults. Also it appeals to people who like all different genres of music, from reggae and rock to country and soul. The pull quote “How I Survived… The Beatles” convinces the reader to buy the magazine, because it connects to the main image of a young Paul McCartney, and that this music is the type of music that the readers enjoy listening to. Also it makes the audience want to read the interview to find out how he survived. The skyline is advertising a free CD to persuade the audience to buy the magazine. Also it mentions unseen things about Bob Marley and that Brian Wilson speaks, which helps to bring in more readers, because they are from different genres. The lead article is an exclusive interview with Paul McCartney, which helps to encourage the audience to buy it, because this band is popular still and appeal to many different types of people, because they are versatile. The main image is of a young Paul McCartney, from when he was in The Beatles, which links with the lead article on how he survived The Beatles. The reason that he is the main focus is, because he is talking about his personal experiences and how he came through the hard times. And the suit that he is wearing connects with the idea that he has survived something difficult and has become successful. Also the clothes match the colours of the font and background, this is to create good 'house style'. Also the colours are trying to catch the readers eye and make them want to buy the magazine. The cover lines are in the same colour and font as the lead article which creates good house style. Also they convince the audience to buy the magazine, because of the promise of more magazines inside. The left third is filled with more bands and singers inside the magazine, as well as the lead article. And this helps to persuade the audience to buy the magazine, because they enjoy this type of music.
